What is the Rigzone Social Network?

The Rigzone Social Network is a platform for professionals to speak up about their industry, their career, and their passion. We want our members to share their knowledge, find jobs, to learn, communicate, connect with peers and like-minded professionals and build a professional community, that will empower their career in energy.

Access

How do I access the Rigzone Social Network?

If you already have an account on Rigzone, Log In and hover over your name in the top right of the page. Click My Account in the dropdown menu and click Opt-in Now under Network Settings.

If you do not have login credentials, you will need to Create An Account on Rigzone first.

Profile

Do I need to create a profile for the Rigzone Social Network?

When you create a Career Summary and/or upload a CV/Resume on Rigzone, we will use some of this information for your Rigzone Social Network profile. This information - which includes your full name, your job title, your current company, your location, and your career description – will be visible to other Rigzone Social Network users when they view your profile. Any time you make an update to your Career Summary, this will automatically update on your Rigzone Social Network profile.

Your contact details, full Career Summary and CV/Resume will only be accessible to verified employers/recruiters with an active database subscription.

Can I still access the Rigzone Social Network if my Career Summary and CV/Resume is set to private?

If you opt-in to the Rigzone Social Network, your Career Summary and CV/Resume will no longer be marked as private, and you will be unable to revert to this option. This is because your name, job title, company, location, and career description will be used to create your Rigzone Social Network profile.

Please note only verified employers/recruiters, who have an active subscription to Rigzone’s Career portal, will be able to access your full Career Summary, CV/Resume, and contact details.

The Rigzone Social Network Feed

What type of posts can I create?

Professionals can share text-only posts, photos, and links. You can also share other users’ posts. All content must comply with the Rigzone Social Network Community Guidelines.

What determines the kind of posts I see in my Rigzone Social Network Feed?

Posts in your feed are aimed to keep you connected to your network. Posts that appear further up your Rigzone Social Network feed are influenced by your connections and activity on Rigzone.

What happens if I do not have any connections?

Your Rigzone Social Network feed will not be as relevant to you. Rather than viewing posts from your connections, your feed will be a mix of regional content from other Rigzone Social Network professionals and Rigzone.

How do I create a post?

Go to the Rigzone Social Network and click on the Speak Up field, situated at the top of the feed. A pop-up will appear, and you can enter text, a URL or upload a photo(s). To publish your post, click on Share.

Your post will be visible to your connections and may also appear on other professionals’ feeds that you are not connected to.

How do I like a post?

To like a post, article, or photo, click on the Like icon below the post. The original author of the post will be notified that you have liked their content.

Anyone can view who has liked a post on the Rigzone Social Network by clicking on the Like number indicator.

How do I comment on a post?

To leave a comment on a post, click the Comment icon on the post, and the comment field will then drop down.

How do I leave a reply to a comment on a post?

Click on the Reply button below the comment to create a reply. The user you are replying to will be notified of your reply.

How do I like a comment?

You can click on the Like icon; the author of the comment will be notified that you have liked their comment.

How do I share a post?

To share a post, click on the Share icon. The original author of the post will be notified that you have shared their post to your feed.

Notifications

How do I view my notifications?

You can click on the Notifications icon on the top right of your screen, next to your name, or go to the Notifications page on the Rigzone Social Network.

Unread notifications will be highlighted in blue. To view the notification, click on it and you will be redirected to the corresponding page/post.

How do I clear my notifications?

Go to the Notifications page and click on the More Options icon, this is the three dots top right of the page. Click Mark all as read and this will remove your notification alert.

How do I manage my notifications?

Go to My Account and scroll down to Network Settings. From here you can manage your notification email preferences.

Messaging

Who can I send messages to on the Rigzone Social Network?

You can send messages to people you are connected to.

How do I send a message to someone?

If you are connected to the user, you have three options to send them a message:

Option 1) Go to your Messages click on the Create New Message icon, and type in the person’s name you would like to message.

Option 2) Go to the user’s profile and click on the Message button from their profile page.

Option 3) Go to your Connections and find the person you would like to send a message to.

What happens when I send someone a message?

The user will receive a notification that they have a new message.

How will I know if I have an unread message?

If you have any unread messages, there will be a notification next to Messages in your Rigzone Social Network. When you click on Messages, any unread messages will be highlighted.

Why can’t I send my email address or phone number in a message?

For your own safety, we have disabled the use of sharing phone numbers and email addresses. If you have a CV/Resume, your contact details will be visible to verified employers/recruiters with an active database subscription.

Why can’t I send a file, link, photo, or video in a message?

This is for your safety. We do not allow sharing files, links, videos, or photos in messages.

How do I clear a message?

Open the message you would like to clear, click on More Options, and click on Clear Message. This will only clear the chat from your view and not the recipient’s view.

How do I delete a message?

Open the message you wish to delete, click on More Options, and click on Delete. This will only delete the message from your view and not the recipient’s.

Connections

How do I manage my connection emails?

Go to My Account and scroll down to Network Settings. From here you can manage your connection email preferences.

How do I find and add connections on the Rigzone Social Network?

There are two options for you to add connections and build a professional network:

Option 1) Click on the Search icon located in the top right of the page or the Search icon from the Rigzone Social Network menu on the left-hand side. From here you can search by name or company. If you are an employer/recruiter with an active database subscription, you can also search by job title. If the user has opted into the network, you will be able to view their profile and send them a connection request.

Option 2) Within the Rigzone Social Network, go to your Connections. On this page you can invite people by inserting their email address. You can invite multiple users by separating email addresses with a comma.

How do I remove sent or received connection requests?

Go to your Connections and click on Manage. You can view your received and sent connections from this section.

The Received section allows you to accept or decline requests. Do not worry if you decline a request, we will not send a notification to the user.

The Sent section allows you to remove any pending connection requests that you have sent. If you remove a sent connection request, the user may still have received a notification that you sent a connection request.

How do I accept a connection request?

You can either click on the link from the email you received, click on the notification or go to your Connections and click on Manage, next to Manage pending invites click Accept next to the request to confirm.

How do I delete a connection?

Go to your Connections and find the connection you want to remove. Click on the More Options icon next to Message. Click Remove to remove the connection.

When you delete/decline a connection or request, the person will not be notified.

Where do I find People You May Know?

Go to Connections. You may also see People You May Know within your Rigzone Social Network feed.

People You May Know is based on having connections in common, current, and previous workplaces, interacted content and location.

My Profile

How do I update my details?

Go to My Profile and click on the edit icon. You will be re-directed to edit your Career Summary. Make your required updates and click Save. Any changes will automatically be reflected in your Rigzone Social Network profile.

Please note, only employers/recruiters who have been verified and have an active database subscription will be able to view your full contact details, Career Summary and CV/Resume.

How do I upload a profile picture?

Go to My Profile click on the grey image icon, click Upload and select your preferred profile image. You can delete or update your profile image at any time.

Where can I upload/update my CV/Resume?

Go to your Candidate Hub and click Upload New CV/Resume. Please make sure your CV/Resume document and your Career Summary match.

Search

How do I use the Rigzone Social Network search functionality?

Click on the Search icon and type in a name or company. Any professionals using the Rigzone Social Network, who match your search will appear. You can then view their profile and/or send them a connection request. If they are already a connection, you can send them a message from here too.

Employers/Recruiters can also search for professionals by job title. An active database subscription is required to use this functionality.

Reporting

Please note, reported items will be reviewed within 24 hours. If you have any questions or concerns please email network@rigzone.com.

How do I report a post?

Click the More Options icon on the post, which is the three dots located on the top right-hand corner. Click on Report and then select your reason.

How do I report a comment?

Click the More Options icon on the post, which is the three dots located on the top right-hand corner. Click on Report and then select your reason.

How do I report a user?

Go to the user’s profile and click the More Options icon, the three dots in the top right-hand corner. Click on Report and select the appropriate reason.

How do I block a user?

We do not have a block functionality. If you are concerned by a user’s actions, please email network@rigzone.com or report their profile.
